Isaac Rosenberg: from ‘Break of Day in the Trenches’ to the German Spring Offensive 1918.
Lecture presented by IRSAC, in association with IWM London.
Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem interweaves the poetry of Wilfred Owen with the Requiem Mass, creating a work that mourned the dead and pleaded the futility of war. Performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, massed choir and soloists, it is one of the twentieth century’s defining works.
