Art and War: The Artists Rifles and Romford, 1915 to 1918

What do First World War poet, Wilfred Owen and Romford have in common? Owen a member of The Artists Rifles Corp, a distinguished battalion of the British Army came to Romford for his training.   Havering Museum’s new exhibition “Art and War: The Artists Rifles and Romford, 1915 to 1918” explores the history of this unique Corp and will introduce you to some of the artists who trained here.  Look out for Wilfred Owen, Edward Thomas, the poet, and Alfred Leete, famous for the drawing of Lord Kitchener which was used as part of the recruitment campaign.
