Benjamin Britten's War Requiem is to be performed in Coventry Cathedral (for the consecration of which it was written in 1962) on 13th November 2010, the eve of the 70th anniversary of the destruction of Coventry and its cathedral.
War Requiem uses words from the Missa pro Defunctis interspersed with Wilfred Owen poems. The cathedral's choral society, Saint Michael's Singers, are promoting the concert, which will be recorded by Classic FM for broadcast on 14th November, and will be repeated in Westminster Cathedral, London, on Wednesday 17th November.
