Our Annual General Meeting and 2018 Poetry Award will be held on the same day, on 15th September, 2018, in Shrewsbury.
The committee is honoured to announce that Owen Sheers has accepted the Wilfred Owen Poetry Award for 2018.
100 years on: what is war poetry good for? takes a look at the legacy and longevity of war poems written a century ago, as well as the writers of today's conflicts.
Taking place a hundred years after the death of the most famous poet of the First World War, the conference will provide the opportunity for delegates to explore the lasting impact of Wilfred Owen's work.
Owen lived in Birkenhead for many of his formative years. His experiences there shaped his later life and poetry. This year, we hope to commemorate and celebrate his life, as well as all of the fallen from Birkenhead, 100 years on.
On 4th November 2018, in the town of Münster, Germany, there will be a performance of three new settings of Wilfred Owen's poetry, with three matching settings of German texts from the same era.
In partnership and conjunction with the Oxford Center for Life-Writing conference “Wilfred Owen and Beyond”, to be held in Oxford 26th-28th October, 2018, the University of Valenciennes will host an interdisciplinary two-day conference 5th-6th November, 2018 to celebrate the centenary of Wilfred Owen’s death.
We are pleased to announce that there will be a special presentation of THE BURYING PARTY hosted by the Lord Provost of Edinburgh and in the presence of director Richard Weston and actor Sid Phoenix.
This year's joint meeting with the Siegfried Sassoon Fellowship will take place on Saturday, 27th April at the Poetry Café in London.
Our 2019 AGM will be held on Saturday, 16th November in the basement of The Poetry Café, 22 Betterton Street, London, WC2H 9BX.
